Welcome to Mountain Love! I'm Emily, photographer, artist + card maker and I'm so happy you're here. All of these pictures were taken in the Coast Mountains surrounding Whistler BC Canada, aka my back yard.
I saw my first mountain out the airplane window at age 18 and it was love at first sight. That was over 20 years ago, and I still have stars in my eyes. Getting to know the Coast Mountains, their trees and lakes and glaciers and animals has been the best adventure of my life, and I'm happy to be able to share some of those moments with you here in picture form.
It's true that these photos show you what the mountains look like, but my deeper interest is to show you what they feel like. I love being able to record that incredible feeling that wild places give us - the magic.
As a teen I learned how to develop and print my own photos, then continued that practice at art school, combining it with drawing and bookbinding. I did a second education in design, went digital with my photography and put it all together to create what you see here. I still love beautiful papers and figuring out the printing process, so I do all of the printing, cutting and scoring of these cards and prints myself, right here in Whistler.
I truly believe that every day is a gift and I hope that you can give someone one of these cards or prints to brighten their day. Thanks for spreading the mountain love and may your days be full of adventure!
